Mrs. Maria Will6th Grade Homeroom Literature 6th, 7th & 8th Ext. 3220
Welcome to my class! My name is Mrs. Maria Wills and I would like to tell you a little about myself.I was born in Havana, Cuba but immigrated with my family to New York City when I was eight years old. While growing up in Queens, I attended St. Raphael Catholic School, played in the snow, went to see the Mets play and spend summers riding bicycles, playing sports and jumping rope.
When I was fourteen years old my family and I moved to Miami. I attended and graduated from St. Brendan High School. After graduation, I continued my education at Miami Dade Community College and at Florida International University. In 1982, I graduated from FIU with Bachelors in Education.
I started teaching fifth and sixth grade at St. Brendan Elementary in 1983. In 1986, I was asked to teach third grade. I loved teaching third grade and taught it for 18 years. In 2004, I was asked to teach fifth grade. I enjoyed teaching fifth grade and this age group tremendously. I am currently teaching Literature to the Middle School grades. I truly enjoy teaching this age group, since there is never a dull moment or a boring day in Middle School!
I am happily married to a wonderful man and we have one son. On our free time we like to spend time with our family and friends. We love to go out to eat and to the movies. We enjoy traveling and visiting Disney World and Key West. We are huge sports fans and love to see our Florida teams play, especially the Florida Marlins.
I hope to have a chance to get to know all of you personally. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions concerns or suggestions throughout the year. Remember that educating a child is a joint effort between teacher, student and parents.
